Self-determination
People should be free to shape their lives, bodies and paths unless there are strong reasons to intervene.
An open culture for a free life.
OpenValues helps people understand their values, give reasons for them and put them into practice together.
THE NORTH STAR
OpenValues develops an open culture for self-directed, conscious and shared life.
We want a society in which people can choose how they live, give reasons for their values and genuinely take part in shared decisions. Different perspectives should neither be forced into conformity nor separated by indifference.
We connect verifiable knowledge, lived experience, open discussion and participatory decisions. Technology should help people think more clearly, understand one another and hold power to account together. It should not steer their attention invisibly.
OpenValues is not a finished worldview or a new authority. Today it is a public working process and aims to become open infrastructure through which people can develop, test and revise shared orientation.
THE FIRST VALUE MAP
These six values are a starting point, not a canon. We give reasons for them, weigh their conflicts and test them against experience.
People should be free to shape their lives, bodies and paths unless there are strong reasons to intervene.
A good life requires attention to our own experience, to other people and to the forces that shape us.
We search for what is true and sound, while showing what we know, suspect or still do not understand.
Suffering, vulnerability and dependence give us reasons to take responsibility for one another.
Freedom is credible only when rules, opportunities, burdens and power can be justified.
A decision is incomplete when it shifts its costs elsewhere or onto future generations.
HOW WE WORK
Personal experience may be the beginning. It becomes shared orientation only when reasons, consequences, counterarguments and uncertainty are visible.
Every position shows its premises, sources and limits.
New evidence and better arguments are allowed to change us.
Disagreement is not a failure. It shows what is actually contested.
THE PROCESS
PARTICIPATE
There are no accounts, votes or finished community app yet. There is an open working process. Share an experience, a disagreement, a source or a concrete decision case.
GO DEEPER
Technology is an instrument of this culture.
People remain its purpose.
